about giving to st. mark's

Thank you for your interest in supporting St. Mark's Episcopal Church!

We rely on generous contributors like you for everything you experience at St. Mark's: our worship, music, education, our ministries that serve the needy in Erie, and the upkeep of our building.

Although the church building is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our ministry continues.

During this time, the diocese will absorb all fees when you make an online gift to St. Mark's

If your income is uninterrupted, please keep your pledge payments current or make a special gift using the diocesan online giving page. Just choose "Erie, St. Mark's" in the fund menu and all of your gift will support our congregation's ministry.

feeding our soul

a capital campaign

The Feeding Our Soul Capital Campaign concluded on All Saints’ Day in November of 2014. The congregation pledged $600,254.46 and planning is currently underway for significant upgrades to our building. Since that time, $500,000 has been paid into the Capital Fund.

Boston architect Lindsay Shives led us through a building design discernment process that resulted in a preliminary concept for the building. In an effort to streamline the building process, the Bishop’s Committee retained the service of local architect Christopher Coughlin of Hallgren, Restifo, Loop and Coughlin, a well regarded Erie architectural firm.

In November of 2015, St. Mark's hosted an evening event that included a presentation from our architect and the opportunity for the congregation to give input into the preliminary plans for our upcoming building project. Soon after this event, the Bishop's Committee and Building Discernment Team reviewed all of the data and thoroughly discussed the congregation's input. As a result, revisions were made in consultation with the architect.

In February of 2016, Eriez Construction was hired to serve as the general contractor. Construction was completed and the new building was dedicated in 2017.

If you have any specific questions at this time, would like more information, or are interested in making a pledge or contribution please do not hesitate to contact Craig Dressler in the church office or by email cdressler@saintmarkserie.org

about stewardship

What is Stewardship?

Stewardship is the prayerful work of managing our time, talent and treasure to bring about God's kingdom on earth. We believe that stewardship is part of our spiritual journey and our relationship with God.

What is a Pledge?

A pledge is your commitment to make a financial gift that supports the mission of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Pledging is a response to God's call and abundance in our own lives: it is a statement of thanksgiving. Pledges are generally made during our fall Stewardship Campaign. Your pledge supports everything you experience at St. Mark's.

How much should I Pledge?

We believe that our standard of giving should reflect our standard of living. We ask each parishioner to consider making a pledge that is both responsible and significant based on his or her financial situation. A tithe (10% of your income) has long been held as the standard of Christian giving. For most it is a goal to be reached through incremental increases each year. At St. Mark's, every pledge, no matter what amount, makes a valued contribution to our mission and ministry.
